Tipi or Teepee? Well, However You Spell It... We Have One!

How were your Holiday's? We had such a nice break and too many sweets. But the best part was the family time and Christmas Day snow. This is a Christmas miracle in Texas.

The boys got most everything on their Santa lists and the most asked for wish was a clubhouse. Clubhouse is what my 10 &12 year old asked for. Well, this seemed like a fun and fairly simple family project. Well, that was, until my husband pointed out we might need to ask the town....what? For a playhouse/clubhouse? Turns out, you need a permit, if you want to stand up in it. Really? What is the world coming to?

So back to the drawing board. Then, I remembered this plastic tipi my Grandpa Walbert surprised my sister and me with one summer in Colorado at their cabin. We were in tipi heaven! Tea parties, lunches, Indian gatherings were all fun in that tipi. I wondered if I could find one for my boys. Well, in Billings, Montana where I used to live, ironically, there is a company called Reliable Tents and Tipis. They have Tipis you could live in! But, we bought the backyard tipi. It is perfect for two boys and some neighbor friends with adventures to be had.

The best part was getting my husband Glen to put it together. Glen was convinced it would be tedious. It was simple and quick. In very little time and no permit needed...we had a clubhouse for my little Indians!

Mr. Darby or little Westie couldn't help but be involved....

A door to keep other tribes and blustery weather out...

Two boys with very happy & mischievous smiles...

Mr. Darby keeping watch...

I found this a few hours after the Tipi reveal...I couldn't help but laugh and had to quickly explain this was NOT a good plan...still laughing!

I hope you all have a GREAT New Year and Happy Decorating!
