*Texas Snow*

Wow, time went by fast from my last post! Even more unbelievable still, a month has almost gone by since Christmas. In the last three weeks I took all the Christmas decorations down, put up a teepee...,well, I watched the teepee raising, did my own home tiny redesign...again, had a small "Puppy Party" for Mr. Darby {who turned 3} & enjoyed a wonderful Texas snow!

It never ceases to amaze me how fast a month goes by! So a brief Horowitz family update:

Homeschooling is still going well and YES, I'm still gad I did it! Especially when it snows and the schools don't close...we get to have cinnamon rolls & hot cocoa, watch the falling snow, do our school work...and all while in our pajamas. It's fantastic!

Our new dog Mr. Darby is such a joy in our lives and sure makes for a fun homeschool day. The boys remembered the breeder telling us his birthdate. They were so excited when his birthdate rolled around on the 13th...so the next thing I knew, we were giving a "Puppy Party" with hat, cake & sock monkey. The sock monkey was a huge hit. He carries it to bed!

Now for the pictures...Pictures are more fun then wordy updates. But then again, it's ME! I get wordy...I just have so much to say!

Mr. Darby turns 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I added a few blue pillows to the bench to bring in some blue to the dinette. I also just bought new chair covers. They are off to be monogrammed. I can't wait to get them on. I will post the "reveal". I get so excited about the little things. But the little things can make the biggest impression & difference.
I was inspired by Tyler Florence's chalkboard pig. I had to have it!! So I drew one that is pretty darn close I think.... I had to add "The Horowitz's Cafe" in French...I put it into an online translator. Geeeee...I hope that's what it says :-)

In keeping Winter around, I added some winter branches in the dining room & pheasant feathers in the kitchen. Then, some blue pillows to my dining room, to carry my new love of blue throughout the home.
My Christmas surprise from my husband....the piano. All these years I've wanted one and envisioned one right where it is. I was so glad it fit perfectly where I pictured it. Now my boys are taking piano lessons and love playing on it. But, the best part is, it plays on its own too! We joke that we have a ghost piano player.
I wrapped the seat, back and back-back of the chair, with burlap to soften the color of it. Then added a blue/silver pillow. My favorite part of this vignette is the old apple picking basket. I filled it with decorative books, a few pine cones and a mini oil painting.
In the master bedroom, I added blue/grey sheets and another pillow of the same blue/silver, like the one in the living room, on my little love seat to carry in the blue again.
{This picture was from the Holiday's. i dont usually have garland on my bed canopy :-) }
I think we all forget at times, what accent colors do to a room. They can change the whole mood. Taking almost all the reds out, have made a huge difference in the feel of our home.

I had so much fun freshening up our home for the New Year. Next post, I will give you a peek at our patio. All the cushions are recovered and ready for us to enjoy patio living again. Not to mention, the chair cover "reveal". Until then...

To a Year of Fresh Starts in the Heart & Home.

Happy Decorating!!!
